while my jaw has dropped in amazement of a variety of things, i do not gawp in complete orgasmic style at very much, but last night, i did it several times within an hour. planet earth on hd dvd is one of the most incredible things i've ever seen. the opening 5 minutes and i couldnt close my mouth. i missed most of it when it was on tv, so it was all new too. and seeing it in hd, well.... it was too much. seeing the cherry blossoms actually blossoms in china on the mountain sides was incredible, and the great white leaping out of the sea, its whole body out by about 5ft, was simply a sight of raw power. i truly have never been impressed by anything that came from a television studio in all my life.
episode 2 was all about mountains, "not that interesting" you may be thinking, but i didnt take my eyes off it. seeing a polar bear takes its cubs down from high up on the glacier mountains was both amusing and awe-inspiring, and the very rare footage of the snow leopard was also a treat to behold.
i'm only two episodes in, but should make that three or four tonight. going to see a couple of maytees, then home for more watching of all things natural. and hopefully... a few more gawps
