The Graphics Tablet
Has actually been getting a little use, and its hard getting to grips with it but I'm enjoying it... so heres a couple of things.

hey kev, try colour picking from your original photo, you'll find that skin tones are made up of some really weird tones, and are actually far darker than you think they are, try a piece where you colour pic from the original photo, most important bit is getting the facial anatomy structure and likeness right, youll learn from colour picking and will learn more to pic the right colour by eye as you go on :)
yeah that a good point, i was thinking also of using random colours, like the impressionists(i think?) did.... like adding blue or green to the shadows, i'll get there slowly. i'm not after ultra realistic, just trying to find my style. think the sketchy style could be my direction!

cool beans, its often useful to know the truth to know how to bend it accurately though, thats why when a lot of people who draw tattoos of like..people for example they look really wrong, claim it to be a style, except if they knew what the anatomy etc was they could do it in the same style but be accurate and it look 100 times better, if you get what i mean, like you could add blue or green etc but knowing what tone and how dark etc, is all relative to like natural colours and darkness from shade. There is usually an amount of blue and green in shadows in skin, but yuss coolio, good start, do you have a pic of the ref you used? I hate skin tones, theyre difficult. Figured a little crit is never bad anywho, but you can tell me to shh hehe
also, im only just starting to learn to paint properly, mine are on my blog, i have another to add later, so we can learn together hehe
oh god no i love people telling me what they think of what i do, i'd rather someone say something doesnt look right than just saying "thats nice" and not giving a reason for why they think so! cant learn without other peoples opinions=]
yeah i know what you mean about styles and stuff, but i do wanna do a much more sketchy style like in the second pic. the first i just did as a potch to see what i could or most certainly couldnt do haha.

that friend of yours is awesome, love the archer on the donkey! the nudes were good too, i miss life class. i'v enever found something to improve your drawing more!
